Like YesterdayDecember 2005

Project Overview

The Like Yesterday, LLC, Website and logo were originally intended to be unveiled together but they liked the design of the logo so much that they began using it as soon as it was completed.

O6 was originally hired to develop the company's site but we were having a difficult time as there were no existing graphical elements to use. We began developing a logo for Like Yesterday so that we would at least have a brand to work with on the site project.

Like Yesterday's first ideas were simple to use the colors blue, green and fuschia. They also wanted a logo that looked "fast."

Not having any images in mind that both coveyed speed and represented the company name, we began with an interlocking L and Y, adding a wing to the L.

The shape was quickly approved but we couldn't make their color scheme work. Just to present an alternative option, we created what ended up being the final logo.

We enclosed the logo in a circle featuring a white-to-grey gradient. The circle was outlined in white and then black, giving it the look of a mid-twentieth century automobile hood ornament, finally combining the name with the need to look "fast." The "Winged LY" was given a white outline and filled by a blue gradient that matched the outer one.

To make the L in the LY look less like a Z, the white outline was extended to cut between the wing and the L, breaking it up enough to show the correct letter but remaining unified to keep the image intact.

The Website design was then based off of the logo, with the gradient used across the site header. The white page background was set on a black border, like that used on the logo.
